The Epic Tail of Peg Leg Meg [Part 1]

Gather round ya filthy scallywags and scum buckets and i’ll tell ya a tale! A tale of the likes you’ve never heard! Don’t be worryin about sleep tonight my boys, we got ourselves many a cold night ahead of us, out here on this damnable ocean with notin but the hunger in our bellies! Tonight is a special night and I means to make the most of it, even if it means sittin on this deck freezin the hairs off me backside! Tonight I tell a tale that’ll fill your mind with visions of intrigue and wonder! Its a tale filled with mischief and deciet; hatred and love; redemption and ultimate damnation... You lowly ocean rats will be tellin this tale for years to come; argg at least till your as old and dried up as me. By then it wont be matterin whatcha remember, ya just be makin it up as ya go eh? I figure out here in this cold dreary place, far away from what was once our homes, a good story is a most valuable treasure, and I be feelin mighty generous this special night. These past few moons i’ve been feelin the cold of the seas in my bones, a cold that comes when ya know that your time in this world is comin to end, and ya better make peace with your gods and make the most of the time ya got left.

Where I come from tonight is the night they celebrate the Feast of the Fox. Never heard of the Feast of the Fox eh?? Hmpf I aint surprised, some you mates look like ya shot out of your mothers kracken not but yesterday. Ayy it makes no difference, the home I speak of is but a small village in a land not much accustomed to outsiders. Ayy its been so long since ive seen it, I doubt I could ever find it if I tried. Truth be told I can harly remember where I put my chamber pot these days... Arggg yah welps be gettin this old man off track! The Feast of the Fox, thats what I was tellin ya about! The Feast of the Fox celebrates the the fiercest, most dangerous pirate to ever roam these seven seas! I aint talkin about that petty coat wearin Black Beard or that jack o’ nothin Barbarossa, no sir! Im talkin about the pirate captain who rumor has it stole the crown off the queen mothers head while the old dodger was still wearing it haha! Im talkin about none other than the dreaded pirate Peg Leg Meg....Arggg Peg Leg Meg, a pirate captain dam near as beautifull as she was cold...

Introduction

Hi and welcome to my blog! While I am known by many names including: Machoo, Choo, Chumie, and The Copy Machine Maestro; most people thankfully refer to me by my given name Matthew, meaning 'gift of god'. With a name like that, its a wonder I don't have a big head, or maybe I do and I just don't know it...yet. I personally think its a wonderful name. My mother tried her best to come up with a name that people would be hard pressed to make fun of. Except for the occasional Machoo! and Mattie-kins, I think she did a great job...

Ok ok ok I like my name, so what?? I assume you want to get to the meat and potatoes of this new blog. Who am I, what do I do, and why I am writing this blog? Well the first thing you should know about me is that I have a hard time staying focused. Whether it’s from book to book, footnote to footnote ,webpage to webpage, or thought to thought, I was born with and have developed over the years a distinct impatience when it comes to reading and writing. I like to think of myself following in the footsteps of Leonardo de Vinci...

Besides both of us being shear and utter geniuses, we both share a certain fickle mindedness. During the renaissance, Leonardo was busy tear-assing around Europe and had to leave a lot of his works unfinished. As for me, I just get bored and move on to something new. So to be fair, I have almost nothing in common with De Vinci, but I like to think I do and thats what matters...to me. Its now taken the better part of several days just finish this first post. I have pages and pages filled with useless, non-sequitur, self referential dialog, all of which I could have posted. Yet after hours of typing and re-typing, thinking and re-thinking, I finally came to the conclusion that I really like my name...and thats really the only thing I was really sure about. Its funny how that works.

Lets Try This Again Shall We

Some time last year I killed this blog because I got bored of it, figuring that my life was not nearly interesting enough to warrant a blog. I still stand by that, however I have had several friends who have expressed interest in seeing my blog revived. Most notably has been a fellow blogger and long time friend of mine http://www.paulahomer.blogspot.com/ So I am going to reintroduce some of my beggining blogs. There should be some new ones coming up in the next couple of days.
